Niue - Seven Sins & Virtues - Lust vs Chastity
Description
Two opposing ideals, united in an extraordinary work of silver art. Lust vs Chastity is the ultimate “VS” interpretation in NumisCollect’s Seven Sins & Virtues series, bringing together temptation and restraint in a single sculptural composition. The impressive 65 mm format in 3 oz of .999 fine silver provides the ornate motif with plenty of space, while the Ultra High Relief adds depth to the lavish baroque frame, and rich crimson and luminous ivory-white tones guide the eye between the two figures.
The seven deadly sins emerged within Christian moral teaching as a way to describe destructive habits and human weaknesses, and were contrasted with virtues intended to guide human conduct. Lust and chastity are traditionally portrayed as opposing responses to desire – a pair of opposites that for centuries has inspired allegorical art regarding temptation, fidelity, and the choices that shape us.
