William Marshal (1147–1219) is considered one of the greatest knights of the Middle Ages. He won countless tournaments, served several English kings, and was hailed during his lifetime as “the greatest knight in the world.” The Knight Games series, in three editions, follows a man who more than anyone else embodied the virtues of knighthood: courage, honor, and loyalty.
The first edition shows Marshal in a jousting duel – seen from his own perspective through the visor. On the helmet are his family crest and the Templar cross, the order he belonged to. The concave surface enhances the sense of speed, tension, and the power of the impact. The obverse shows the victor bowing to the stands after his win. The rim bears his official title in micro-engraving.
