Description

The American Silver Eagle is one of the world's most sought after silver coin series, and this 2017 example carries the strongest credentials a modern issue can hold. NGC has graded it MS70, which means the coin is in mint condition with no visible defects, and has added the Early Releases designation, given to coins certified and registered within the first few weeks of official release. It contains one troy ounce of 99.9 percent pure silver.

The reverse carries the classic American eagle design that has defined the series from the start. On an MS70 example, every line of that engraving survives exactly as it left the press, with full detail and untouched surfaces across the whole coin.

Why collectors value it

  • MS70 is the highest grade NGC awards, reserved for coins with no visible defects.
  • Early Releases records that the coin reached NGC within the first weeks after the official launch, a detail collectors consistently look for.
  • One troy ounce of 99.9 percent pure silver is a clear and widely recognised weight for anyone building a holding in physical metal.
  • The coin is sealed in its NGC holder, so the surfaces stay untouched no matter how often it is moved or shown.
  • It sits naturally beside other certified graded issues in a wider collection.

Display and storage

The sealed holder makes the coin easy to live with. Put it on a stand where you see it every day, place it in a display cabinet, or keep it in a safe when you prefer it out of sight. Nothing touches the silver in any of those settings. If you are building a broader set, this mint state finish contrasts well against mirrored proof strikes and against older coins from earlier decades.

The serial number shown in the image belongs to a prototype. The coin you receive may carry a different serial number, but the grade and specification are the same. For a collector who wants the Silver Eagle series represented at its best, a 2017 issue in MS70 with an Early Releases label is an obvious place to start.
