The Apollo 11 50th Anniversary coin honors the first manned lunar landing on July 20, 1969. All coins in the program share a common design and are dome-shaped , giving a unique three-dimensional impression.
The 5-ounce silver coin features a detailed depiction of astronaut Buzz Aldrin’s helmet and visor on the moon. The reflection of the helmet shows astronaut Neil Armstrong , the American flag and the lunar lander. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” , “ONE DOLLAR” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” . The obverse of the coin depicts a footprint on the lunar surface with the inscriptions “MERCURY” , “GEMINI” and “APOLLO” separated by the phases of the moon.
The domed 5 oz silver coin comes in its original coin box along with a Certificate of Authenticity . The limited edition makes it a sought-after collector's item.
