The reverse of the coin depicts an American buffalo, modeled after Black Diamond, the Central Park Zoo's livestock in New York City in the early 20th century. Fraser sketched the original image during a visit to the zoo, and the sketch later became the basis for his final design.
Fraser's Indian Head Nickel design is considered one of the greatest American coin designs of all time. This silver round features the classic design and contains 1 oz of .999 fine silver.
