Beside the elder tree, the Ukrainian people are depicted – a mother, a child, and a soldier father – symbolizing generations, community, and national identity. Together, they represent the indomitable power and source of eternal life that unites the Ukrainian people.

The trunk and roots, gilded with real gold, reinforce the sense of eternity. The gold seems to protect the outlines of life and hope and separate them from all evil that lies beneath the earth – depicted below the coin's surface.

The gilded branches illuminate clusters of red berries – a symbol of proud Ukraine and of the faith and unity of its people.
