The traditional historicist interpretation of the second seal in the Book of Revelation – the red horse – is associated with the period in Roman history characterized by civil wars and power struggles among 32 different imperial pretenders. According to the futuristic interpretation, the Antichrist will trigger a third world war and mercilessly persecute all who profess Christianity.
